When Justice Goes Wrong - what can we do?Most of us would like to think that our judicial system works well and that innocent people being jailed is a rare occurence. If we weren't sure of this it would shake the very fabric of our society in Britain today. But is this true that innocent people are very rarely wrongly imprisoned? Unfortunately the answer is uncormfortably yes, innocent people are convicted and sent to jail, not only that, they are sent to jail for offences that were NOT committed, not just for offences that they didn't commit. People are convicted where no offence has actually taken place.Imagine how that must feel? To be locked up for something that didn't actually happen! Not just locked up for a crime that you didn't commit but one that was never committed in the first place. Now imagine that the crime is so horrendous that in order to have a chance of early release you are pressured to admit guilt to a crime that did not happen! Sounds as if we're living in some third world dictatorship doesn't it? But we're not, every week, police and CPS solicitors bring cases where they have no evidence, so they rely on 'Expert Witness' testimony, there is of course a need for experts who are trained to give unbiased information to a jury in terms that the jury can understand. However, in cases where there is no evidence Expert Witness opinion is treated by the Police, CPS and the Judiciary as fact. Where no evidence exists expert witness 'opinion' is treated by the authorities as fact!Yes, you read that correctly, where there is no evidence expert witness testimony is treated by the authorities as fact. So how you may wonder does a jury convict if there is no real evidence, understanding the psychology of decision making may provide some answers. If you want to have your say visit http://www.lawcom.gov.uk/expert_evidence.htm where you can read the consultation paper produced to try and change the way we accept expert opinion and also have your say on their online forum. You can also write to John Hemming, a Liberal Democrat MP campaigning about the misuse of medical evidence, detailing the misuse of evidence in your case. Articles |
Who we are.We are a concerned group of people who not only maintain that Ben Roberts is innocent but who also maintain that he's not the only one! Many people are being convicted on Expert Witness opinion which is then treated as fact, there is a littany of experts who have been discredited and their victims released. The tradegy is that these people are convicted of a crime that did not happen! |
